We hear a lot about the government "Swamp", but little about government cost to us tax payer. It is difficult to find good data, but I will try to shine light on the problem in this blog.
I did find some recent data. Did you know that about 25% of new jobs during the Biden administration were government jobs? Did you also know that the average government job pays over $105,000 per year compared to just over $50,000 per year for private jobs? It is my estimate that it take at least 3 private workers to earn the wealth that it takes to pay for 1 government worker. Does this give you a hent of why the National Debit has grown so much in the past few years?
When Trump talks about "draining the swamp", it will have a lot bigger impact than just giving regular people more of a voice. If you have noticed, in the current campaign we hear talk about "spending" for this and that, but total silence when it comes to cutting government costs. The only exception is when Trump talks about eliminating the federal Department of Education. Trump did promise to assign Elon Musk to head up an analysis of how to make government more efficient.
