When you have to "call 911, it is too late". I will explain in this blog.
When we call 911, 99% of the time it is too late. It is like the story about Humpty Dumpty where "all the King's horses and all the King's men could not put Humpty Dumpty back together again". When the police come on a 911 call for a shooting, it is too late. When the police come on a 911 for a burglary, it is too late. When the police come on a 911 for a Black shooting a Black, it is too late. Calling 911 and getting the police or anyone else to show up does not put the pieces back together again,
I pointed out in a prior blog that no matter how fast or how good someone is at solving a problem, it is no substitute for not having the problem in the first place! That is where we all need to start and that is "preventing" the problem in the first place. Putting a criminal in jail may appear to solve the problem, but it really doesn't. Many criminals are repeaters and for most criminals who are caught, they have already committed prior crimes for which they were not caught. This is true in almost all criminal cases. Prevention is what we need to focus on.
The best person to "prevent" a crime is the father of the person. It is the father who has the most skin in the game and who is in the best position to see a problem before it happens. It is the father who can warn his child and get the child to listen and change direction if required before the problem. It is the father who can explain how best to deal with a festering situation that the child will onlysee for the first time. It is the father who can tell the truth or bad news to the child and make them accept it. My father often told me many times when I was being punished that, "This hurts me more than it hurts you" Only a father can say that.
Social workers have good intentions, but they are clearly not a substitute for a Father. The policy put out by President Trump proposes that a social worker accompany a policemen on some calls, but do not expect this to have much impact. It may even turn out to be negative. Social workers just don't have skin in the game like a father.
I have not discussed the mother so far, but they are not a substitute for a father. All mothers love their children like no one else. They focus on the good that is in all children and shy away from the bad. That is just the way it is You will never see a mother punish a child and then tell them that, "This hurts me more than it hurts you". That is a fact. Mother don't tell their children the bad news of life, but the responsible father does, because he knows that he has too.
