This blog will show that "Blacks Are Not Left Behind".
For some reason the media and the Black community seems to think that there is some kind of bus, train or ship that carries people forward economically and socially. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is no bus or train, each person has to move themselves along the path economically and socially. It is done, step by step or one step at a time. If a Black person feels that they have been left behind, they need to explain exactly how they were left behind. Did they miss the bus that does not exist or the train or did they not prepare themselves properly for the trip along the path. I know that many left the path voluntarily. No one pushed them off the path or prevented them from progressing along the path.
How can anyone be "left behind" if traveling forward along the path is totally a function of the ability of the individual? Everyone is considered equal at the start of the race along the path, but some are faster, work harder, have more ability or are just more lucky than others. That is a fact of life. All people are considered equal, under the law or the rules of the economic and social game, but we know that their abilities and attitudes are different. It has to be as clear as a bell when it comes to sports, so why is it so difficult for us to understand that similar individual differences apply to other areas?
I love music, but I have almost zero musical ability. I don't like that, but that was how I was created. I know people who are extra tall and are very good basketball players too. Only a few of us are born tall so were we "left behind"? I don't think so. Does a person become a better basketball player if they have a good coach? Most do. Did you ever see a good coach turn down a good potential player? I did not think so. Are you starting to see the holes in the whole argument that "Blacks are being left behind"?
There are places in the world where people can be "prevented" from competing fairly based on their individual abilities, but not here in the USA. When England was running things before the Revolution being related to the King or Queen could mean wealth for you, while not being of Royalty could condemn you to poverty. That was one of the main reason that the 13 Colonies revolted against England in the first place. The laws of the USA protect every individual against the discrimination that I described above. There is a legal process to address cases where discrimination has occurred, but rioting is not one of the methods for redress.
We need to get this business of "being left behind" out of our vocabulary and start taking responsibility for our individual personal actions rather than trying to hide behind excuses!
PS--Life is not like a normal race where everyone starts out at the same time. In life there are people already on the track who started much earlier and are thus older. Further, the race does not start when you are 18 years old. It started when you were born, from the day you took your first step. For those who wait until they are 18 years old, they are clearly start from behind. In real life others can leave you behind as they propel themselves thru life, but it is your responsibility to get yourself moving, not others. If you are a victim, it is you who have victimized yourself. Face the music before it is too late!
PS--Blacks Are Free! Look in the mirror, you are free. Don't keep making excuses. Take responsibility for your life like everyone else does. You are free!
