For some reason it seems that we have forgotten that the USA is a "Nation of Individuals". Look at our law or rules. They apply to individuals not groups. If you are caught for robbing a liquor store, they send you as the individual that robbed the liquor store to jail, not your mother or father. Now, let's look at Baltimore.
All the talk from politicians like the Baltimore Mayor, Obama or Clinton does not blame the "individuals" in Baltimore who burned down the stores. They blame "the whole country". They claim the "cause" is that the Blacks are "under privileged". What do they mean "privileged"!!! No individual in the USA is "privileged". We are all equal under the law or rules of society, so how can a person be "under privileged"? The problems in Baltimore and in the Black community are all problems with "individuals".
They claim that Black's can not find jobs, or good paying jobs. They feel sorry for children who are raised by single mothers. These are facts, but what is the cause? You don't fix a broken leg by giving the person pain pills. You address the broken leg. It is the same with the Black community. Take the Blacks who can not find a job. There are few jobs within the Black community because individuals have made the place so bad that no business wants to be there. The Blacks can not find jobs because they do not have any skills that any business wants to pay for. Government can not make a person "skillful" or a dependable hard worker. Only an individual can read a book, do home work or not participate in crime or drugs. It is just that simple, so why don't we hear people addressing the real problem.
Take Gray who died while in the custody of the Baltimore police. It is 100% the fact that he resisted arrest and the police had to us much more force than would have been necessary had he cooperated. In all the cases that have resulted in riots by Blacks, the person killed or injured was resisting arrest. If Blacks understood the law and rules of our society and. as an individual, followed those laws and rules, 99% of their problems would be eliminated.
Their was a mother on TV taking her kid home from the riot. Later we learned that she was the single mother of 6. How could a person become the single mother of 6? She either let herself get pregnant out of wedlock or her husband was sent to jail for committing a crime. Her husband could have been killed by another Black. Notice that getting pregnant was an individual decision by the mother and committing a crime was also an individual decision. Getting killed was an individual decision, also by an individual.
Not finishing school or not doing the home work are also individual decisions. If Blacks or any poor person wants to enjoy a better quality of life, they all have to make responsible decisions. When you are minding your own business and making the responsible decisions and someone else is violating the law or rules of society, you can not turn the other way. How many times have you seen situations where the police show up at a murder and none of the 25 or 30 people there saw or heard anything? This is a serious problem in the Black community.
These are just a few examples to show that the USA is nation of individuals and if we forget that, we could all end up just like the Black community. We are both the problem and the solution. We don't need more money or more government. We all need to be responsible individuals worthy of the work done by others to build this country over the past 250 years.
PS---As a young kid, I did a lot of things, but one thing that I did not do was to bring "shame" on my mother. I wanted her to be proud of me and that was my primary motivation. Asians also have a similar attitude about bringing "shame" onto the family. In the Army soldiers are trained to support the unit and not embarrass their unit. What is it about the Black community that they do not either understand this principle of conduct or are not concerned about bringing "shame" on their family or community? I think that is in the area that they need to start, and it will not cost a "dime"!!!
