It is clear that the USA has an immigration problem. How do we deal with problems? That is what this blog is about.
How do we normally deal with problems? The ultimate solution is to eliminate the problem and to make sure that the problem does not reoccur. How are we doing with our immigration problem? Not too good! There are some problems that we have not been able to eliminate, so in those cases, we have accepted "reducing" the problem to an acceptable level. Look at murders and bank robberies. We still have murders and bank robberies, but they are not too high in most places. Now, with a little build up, I want to dive into the our illegal immigration problem.
First, look at the basic "cause" of the illegal immigration problem. It is clearly caused by over population in Central America and much of the world. Why is over population such a problem today? It is due to the same cause that caused Ireland to get over population over a 100 years ago. Don't know what that was? Ireland was invaded by the Roman army and the Catholic Church followed them and advocated breeding to get more new members, but due to a lack of food, women could not conceive. When the potato was introduced into Ireland the lack of food problem was solved and women could then conceive. The population boomed until the Irish were again starving. Their solution was to immigrate in large numbers to the USA. Interesting story?
If you look at Central America, you will find the situation much the same as what happened in Ireland, the Spanish army invaded Central American and the Catholic Church followed, but when Ireland had the problem the USA was sparsely populated, but not now. The common factors here are the Catholic Church and more efficient food production. It worked good for a while, but now Central America is over populated again and the USA is no longer sparsely populated. Today, the old solution will not work nor is it now acceptable!
Notice that the Catholic Church is providing food and transportation to the illegal immigrants who are traveling toward the southern borders of the USA? Rather than helping illegal immigrants travel North, they should be making it more difficult. The way our law enforcement has worked in the past is to make braking the law more "painful" than obeying the law. The debate should shift to discussing what things we can do to make braking our laws more "painful" for the illegal immigrants. What we are now doing is clearly not painful enough! Catch and release is a joke and we all know it. We need to think of the illegal immigrants as the "enemy" and anyone who gives "aid to the enemy" should be considered as an enemy too. Is that clear enough?
Next, how do we make it more painful for the illegal immigrants? If an enemy charges our lines on a battlefield, we normally shoot them. Even if they charge with rocks and clubs, we still shoot them. We don't wait until a certain number have crossed our battle line until we shoot. We shoot the very first one and then the second one. When we do that, the enemy starts to understand that we are serious about protecting our battle lines. In this case, our border is our battle line. Notice that we don't ask the enemy "why" they are charging our battle lines because we don't care. Historically there used to be battles around castles where they starved out the occupants. In this case, those in the castle are starving themselves by over breeding. What is the difference?
What kind of "pain" should be be placing on the illegal immigrants? How much will it take to stop them from illegally trying to immigrate here and get them to solve their over breeding problem at home?
PS--The amount of "pain" that we impose on the illegal immigrants will be determined by the illegal immigrants. If they try harder to get in, we will try "harder" to keep them out no mater how high the "pain" level becomes. That is the simple facts of the situation.
PS--An interesting fact about El Salvador is that it is illegal to get an abortion there. I wonder if the Catholic Church had anything to do with this law?
