I think that most of us are in favor of "balanced" trade, so why not "balanced" immigration? That is the idea behind this blog.
I think that we need balanced immigration. That means that we should only allow immigrants into the USA for each USA citizen who immigrates to the immigrant's country. If we did that how many USA citizens do you think would opt to immigrate to Haiti? My guess is "zero" and that means we would allow "zero" immigrants from Haiti into the USA! How about Guatemala?
This is just another way to encourage other countries to have some "skin in the game". If immigrants from Haiti want to immigrate to the USA, then they need to figure out how to improve their country so that USA citizens might want to immigrate there. The other thing is that if places like Haiti were to do this, it would encourage their citizen not to want to immigrate to the USA.
As it stands now the people in places like Haiti have no incentive to stop polluting and corrupting their country. Most of the countries where people want to immigrate out of are over populated. If there is not an incentive for these countries to get their population growth under control, the whole world is placed in jeopardy. We all understand the problem when it comes to cats and dogs, so why not when it is the same problem with us humans?
In a prior blog, I condemned dual citizenship and I still do. If a person wants to immigrate to the USA, they have to want to become full functioning citizens and that means giving up their citizenship in their old country. We can't allow immigrants to form little isolated islands inside the USA. They have to buy in 100% to our laws and value system or they should not come here in the first place!
PS--Remember that my basic objective for the USA is to raise the median family income. Currently, 99% of immigrants "lower" the median family income. There is no way that we can just select the good ones and even if we do, how about their eventual children?
