I don't know of any deer hunters who practice politically correct hunting methods. Do you? I thought it might be a good idea to see what deer hunting would look like if deer hunters became politically correct. I am not going to define politically correct here, because you all know how absurd it is.
My deer hunter is going to be a Mr. Bobby Jones. He lives some place in Kentucky and works as truck driver when he is not deer hunting. Bobby Jones comes from a family that have a long family tradition of deer hunting and have bagged some very big bucks over time. Bobby used to deer hunt in the traditional way where they used game cameras and hunted in areas where there were many deer sightings. Bobby also used his favorite 30-06 that had good range and know down power and was ideal for deer hunting. Bobby's father taught him to get up early so that he could catch the deer before they bedded down for the day.
Every thing was going well for Bobby until one day his daughter came home from school and explained that it was bad to "profile". Bobby did not understand what his daughter was talking about, but after a while he got the drift. It was bad to play the odds, taking into account things that you knew about a situation. His daughter's teacher told the call that you should consider all possible alternative as "equal" and make decisions on a "random" basis. Being a good father, Bobby decided that he would go along with his daughter and her teacher with regards deer hunting. If he was going to hunt deer his hunting techniques should be as "fair" as possible just like the school teacher had told the class.
The next week end was the opening day of rifle deer season in Bobby's state and he planned on enjoying going deer hunting. The first thing that Bobby did was to "randomly" select the gun that he was going use for deer hunting. As it turned out, it was the 410 shot gun that his father had given him for his 10th birthday. It was not the best choice, but a 410 at close range could kill a deer. Normally Bobby got up early to get into the woods before day light, but this year he shuffled his deck of cards to find the hour that he should go into the woods. Wouldn't you know it, he drew a 10 of Clubs. That meant that he would get into his stand at 10:00 am and he did. Rather than take the stand where his game cameras showed a record size buck, he flipped a coin, heads for the stand with the big buck and tails for the stand that they had not been baiting this year. Again, as luck would have it his coin came up tails. Bobby was not concerned because he knew that this new style of hunting was really the fairest way and gave all deer an equal chance of not being shot so that they could grow old and starve to death during late winter.
When Bobby got home after deer hunting, all of his buddies had gotten their bucks except for Bobby. His buddies all knew that Bobby was one of the best deer hunters in the area and a dead eye shot, so why had he come up empty handed? Bobby explained how his daughter was told by her school teacher that it was not fair to hunt for things by taking into account all your prior knowledge about deer habits nor to use game cameras. Her teacher did not exactly go into that much detail about deer hunting, but Bobby concluded that if it was the fair way to go when trying to find terrorist that it has to be just as good and fair when deer hunting.
All of Bobby's friends broke out laughing when they heard his story. After that embarrassment, Bobby gave up deer hunting and sold all of his guns, he was going to be "politically correct" no matter what!!
