Have you been listening to all the BS about "Bump Stocks"? How about some real facts?
It starts off with statements about "weapons of war". Most people agree that military weapons being used by normal citizens is not a good idea, but if you look a little deeper you will find that there is no agreement on what is a "weapon of war". Back when the USA fought the Revolutionary War back in the 1700's the "weapons" were smooth bore black powder muzzle loading guns. Notice that today these exact same guns are used to hunt game in every state, How about something more recent from WWI? That was when the military came out with its 30-06 bolt action rifle. Now that same rifle is popular as a deer hunting rifle. Are you starting to see the problem?
Just after WWI we developed the Tommy gun and the Machine gun. These are real automatic rifles and notice that we have laws on who can own one of these types of rifles. Notice also that no one in the recent news was ever killed by one of these. It is true that these two automatic rifles can fire very fast and can fire hundreds in just a minute. The big reason that these rifles can fire so many rounds in a minute is because of the size of there magazine or in some cases a "belt" of bullets.
Now notice that there are laws on the books that limit the number of shells than a clip can hold. Notice that none of these rifles use "belts" as does a machine gun. Even if with a Bump Stock your ;modern rifle can fire faster than by simply pulling the trigger, it can only legally fire only the shells in the clip. The bottom line is that the Bump Stock can only shoot a maximum of 9 to 15 shots before it has to be reloaded. That is far less than the claim of it shooting 100's of shot in a minute, It may be technically true that for about 5 seconds it can shoot at a rate of 100's of shots per minute. I hope you can follow this logic.
It might be possible for some on with special skills to pull the trigger fast enough to fire at the rate of a Bump Stock. What kind of law would people propose to deal with that? How about passing a law where shooting someone was illegal? Isn't that the current law? Are you starting to see how stupid the discussion about Bump Stocks is?
