We hear a lot of talk about "Root Cause", but does anyone really know what a "Root Cause" is? I will point out a few in this blog.
First, let's look at our Southern border. We have all these people, some with young children, crossing out Southern border illegally. For some the Root Cause is poverty from where they came from, which is true, but it is not the Root Cause. If not, what is? You could cure poverty by sending them money or food, but does that solve the Root Problem? No. Most of these countries also have between 900 and 1,100 people per square mile. Is that the Root Problem? No! We could let them immigrate to the USA and thus reduce the number of people per square mile, but did we solve the Root Problem? Again, no! In a few years the population per square mile would be back to where it started. If these are not the solution to the Root Problem, what is?
The Root Problem is made up of at least 4 elements and anyone could the tall tent pole. So what are they?
(1) Breeding too many children per family
(2) Beginning breeding at too young of an age
(3) Increase in life expectancy
(4) Carrying capacity of the country per square mile.
You could do all of this with simple mathematical correlation. That mean finding the factors that align with "symptom". You then examine the list of factors with high correlation to determine if they are the Root Cause. Double blind testing each factor is a good way to do this. Example, do like China did and limit the number of children to a family to just two kids. If the population per square mile goes down, then you know you have found a Root Cause.
In my case, all I did was to go to the internet and search 4 items on my list above and see if the country was so poor that many wanted to immigrate out. It worked like a charm. You could go further and see if there are any other factors that encourage more breeding or breeding at a younger age. What you find is that the Catholic and Muslim religions both encourage breeding so as to produce more followers. In the case of the Muslim religion, they encourage younger breeding and multiple wives so that most females are knocked up on a regular basis.
Factor (3) above was a significant factor many years go, but not today. Factor (4) has actually helped in the more responsible countries, but in those who have a lot of goats, they have gotten worse. You only have to look at the growth in the size of the Sahara Desert to see the impact of humans and their goats.
The bottom line is that breeding and the "thrill" that goes along with it is the Root Cause for 90% of the problems facing the future of the human race and rewarding those who have broken the simple rules is not the way to change the Root Cause. It will take some pain for those who have been over breeding so we all should just get use to it!
PS--One fact that I did not include above is "nutrition". It is a fact that females that are underfed can not get pregnant. This was the case in Ireland until Columbus brought back the potato from the New World. Historically places like Africa had a stable population because they had limited food and thus females could not have more children or many of the excess children they had died from starvation. Foreign aid and missionaries have contributed to over population by giving food to poor countries. The solution for over population is "pain". Other actions might make you feel good, but they only make the over population problem and suffering worse.
Most deer hunters know that when the Does have more food that they tend to have more twins and triplets. It is exactly the same for us humans!.
