I have blogged in this area before, but it is worth doing again.
There is a lot of data out there if you want to look for it and I did. Here is just a little and it is enough to show that Blacks are going the wrong way if they really want to get ahead. Colleges is the path for all who want to get ahead, whether it is Blacks, Asians or Whites. Most of us know that, but just knowing is not enough. Here is some data that will support my point.
Majored in STEMS
Asians----------------30%
Blacks---------------- 9%
Whites----------------15%
Majoring STEMS is not enough, you have to graduate in STEMS. A very disproportionate number of Blacks fail or transfer out of STEMS due to low grades. This has always been the case with STEMS with all groups except Asians. In my case, at least 50% of my freshman STEMS majors were not around for my sophamore year.
We need to ask ourselves, "What is different about Asians that they go into STEMS and graduate in such high percentages?" This is a case that if you don't know the way, then follow someone who does and that is the Asian. I am not willing to say that one group or the other has a higher or lower IQ, so it must be something else and what is that?
* Out of wedlock birthrate of "zero"
* High school graduation rate of 100%
* Family and community pressure to be responsible
You could come up with a longer list, like doing drugs or crime, but I think the three above are enough to get the job done. What appears to be happening is that groups are just challenging the numbers without looking for the basic cause. If you want to change the numbers, you have to address the cause. You can't eliminate poverty by giving out free money, you have to figure out and get the person to earn their own money. You can put lip stick on a pig, but it is still a pig.
It is clear that Asians are doing a better job in the STEMS area and it stands to reason that if Blacks want to get ahead that they should be following the lead of the Asians.
