Did you watch Biden read his practiced speech last night? Here is my slant.
As a kid, I had to go to church every Sunday and listen to my great uncle preach to the gullible. He was the biggest con man that I have ever known. He sounded just like Biden spewing gobble-d-goop to those being conned while sitting in the pews. I don't know what it is about people who eat this stuff up about going to heaven and walking on Golden streets. You never hear about eating steaks or going fly fishing. All you hear is people down on their knees waiting for someone to give them something for free that they did not earn.
One of our biggest problems in the world is with Iran that is run by a bunch of similar religious nuts too.. Why is it that so many countries can buy into this kind of stuff? China and Russia seem to have gotten past this religious thing, but have put socialism in it's place. Both religion and socialism exhibit the most control over it's followers, supposedly for the good of all. Where is the freedom of the individual in all of this? It seems that there are a lot of little people in the world who want to have control over other people. Why is that? If their ideas are so good, why don't they practice them in their own lives and leave others alone?
The expression that I like is that a government that governs the least is the best. They should keep people safe from others so that each person can do their own thing as long as it does not interfere with other's safety. The government should help you protect your property and take the minimum amount from you needed to carry out it's minimum responsibilities. Equality of opportunity should be the goal and results would then be based on merit of the individual. Effort should not be the rule alone. Handicapped people deserve special consideration, but not normal people.
I want the government and religion out of my life to the extent possible and most people who I know do too. Government and religion are the two sharpest knives in the drawer and we all need to recognize that fact. A tool that powerful has to be used with the greatest of discretion and not used at all if there is any question. It is better not to use the sword than to mistakenly use it. Why is it that it is so difficult to learn or understand these simple lessons?
