We need a new kind of Economics 101 and that is "Simple Minded Economics". Simple Minded Economics is base on "magic" and requires those who follow it to do so on the basis of "faith". If one can combine the power of "magic" with "faith", you have one of the most powerful tools for the control of the minds of the Simple Minded. You will have millions of followers who will follow you thru fields of fire or walk on hot coals. Think of the power you would have by using "Simple Minded Economics". I would like to think that I invented the concept, but Obama got there first. He has been serving up his version of Simple Minded Economics for almost 6 years and look at the zeal of his faithful followers.
This new economic discipline looks at the national economy and GNP as a big number that increases by "magic". Remember the concept of the "invisible hand" that made the complex economic system work so well? That was the first attempt by economists to sell the voters on "magic". They knew that if they could get the concept adopted by the major colleges and universities and combine it with mumbo jumbo that "faith" would not be far behind. The bigger the GNP number the bigger the pie and every person deserved an equal size piece of that pie just based on the fact that their feet touch the soil of the USA. You don't have to do anything yourself to make the size of the pie bigger because the pie is supposed to keep getting bigger by "magic". Every time you walk past a bank, as a simple minded person, you deserve a share of the money that is stored in that bank and you know it based on "faith". When these same simple minded people see someone drive past in a fancy car, they feel that the driver got that car by "magic" and without working to earning the money to pay for it. Investing their savings in a company or the stock market is "not" a honest way to earn money. Charging interest by a bank on a home loan is also a clear example of a bank being dishonest.
In simple minded economics it is to the advantage of the economy to allow more and more immigrants into the USA as long as they earn at least "one dollar". That one dollar adds to the GNP and thus the size of the pie, and we know that the simple minded all like pie. Since the simple minded can not do 4th grade math, there is no way for them to discover that when you divide a slightly larger pie by more and more people that the size of the piece of pie each person gets is smaller and smaller. They think this is some kind of math error. Their faith is so strong as is their belief in magic that no one can change their mind. (I was going to say "thinking", but we know that the simple minded to not think.)
The other thing about the simple minded is that they believe that everyone except themselves should pay taxes. The simple minded see themselves outside or above the economic system. Why should they care, since simple minded economics is based on "magic" and one only needs "faith" to function in the system, and the simple minded are big on "faith". Many feel that all they need to do to live well in the "here after" is to have "faith", so why is it not the same here on earth? That is a tough one to refute!
Look in the mirror and see if you are one of these simple minded people. Do you believe in the power of "magic" and "faith"/ If so, you may be one.
