This is a challenge to the electric power companies in the USA to "Defunge Electric Power". Now, what does this mean? Fungible means that items that may come from different sources when combined can not be told apart. This is the case with electricity that is generated by different methods. It can all be processed and sent out to customers on the same power line systems. What power companies do is to buy or generate electricity using solar or wind systems and feed that electricity into their power grids and sell it to customers at an "averaged" out price. The cost of solar and wind power has a cost about 10 times that from coal, natural gas or hydro. Since this Green power is only a very small percentage of the electrical power, when averaged in, it only raises the price to customers by a small amount. Are you with me so far on this? Well next, I will explain "Defunging".
We seem to have many very strange people here in the USA who feel that Green energy is the future for the USA so I want to help them put their money where there mouths are. What our power companies should do is to separated the Green energy out to the side and let these "strange people" buy "Green" electricity. It would only take some simple computerized billing changes to allow these "strange people" to buy Green electricity. This would keep these "strange people" happy and allow the rest of us to be left alone.
What the power companies could do is to "defung" electric power and thus give these "strange people" exactly what they seem to want. I say we should give these "strange people" exactly what they want and that means "defunging" electric power.
