We need more Patriotism in our schools. I will show my ideas in this blog'
I am not talking about the normal definition of Patriotism that we all normally use. It has more to actually do with schools and their patriotic objective. Like all decisions, we first need to agree on the "objective", and what is that? Here is what I think.
I think the patriotic objective should be to make the USA better, now and in the future, for ourselves and our grandchildren. Sounds simple doesn't it?. Next, how does this apply to a student in one of our schools? Why are our kids even in school? They are there because us citizens want to prepare them to help make the USA a better place when they are adults. Do you agree with that? What responsibility or Patriotism does the student owe the USA? Now we are getting down to my main point.
The way that a student can show their Patriotism is to "do well in school" and "prepare themselves to make the USA a better place". This is not something that they can pass off on someone else. They have to carry the ball and do it themselves. That means "learning" as much as they can in school and thus preparing themselves as much as they can to do as well as they can as an adult that they will soon be. The USA is short on Engineers and Doctors and these are not the easiest majors in our schools, but students can still a do their patriotic responsibility by taking these more difficult majors. Taking the easy classes is a Patriotic "cop-out" and you know it. Having teachers who give out easy grades is also a "cop-out" and clearly not patriotic.
The point that I am trying to make is that being Patriotic is not easy. It can be difficult, like joining the military. Even making the military easier for females is a form of "cop-out" too. Why us citizen taxpayers spend tax money on majors like "basket weaving" when the USA really needs technically stronger citizens to compete in the world is beyond me. Working hard in school is Patriotic and it should be more recognized by all of us. We should be using our social pressure to discourage young people from taking paths that are clearly not Patriotic and not in the interest of the future of the USA.
Look in the mirror and tell me if you were a Patriotic student and if your children and grandchildren are honestly "Patriotic" or not.
