Tax Cut, Who Pays?

There are a lot of stories or "spin" about President Trumps tax cut.  That is the point of this blog.

It is clear that the greatest tax cut went to those who are paying the most taxes.  How could it be any other way?  If you don't pay any tax, like 50% of the people in the USA, how could you pay less?  Th spin is that the rich got most of the tax cut and the poorer people just got "crumbs".  How does that sound?  At first it has a logical ring to it, but it is actually wrong.  What happened is that the richest people actually pay a higher percentage of the total tax collected than they did before.  Isn't that what people call "progressive".  Don't most people want to be "progressive"?

I was just talking to a person from California who graduated from Stanford and Harvard who could not believe that the richer people actually now pay a bigger share of the taxes.  This person had the impression that the poorer people had gotten screwed by the President Trump new tax plan.  My concern is that if a person as well educated as this one could have it all wrong, what about the average person?  What this tells me is that the news media and our education system have been a lot more effective in getting out their "spin" than I ever thought.  I think that it is clear that Democrats understand how ignorant the average voter is and they clearly take advantage of that ignorance.  The Republicans, on the other side, don't seem to have the heart to speak down to the average voter like the Democrats do.  I think that Democrats make much better con men than do Republicans.  Sad, but true.

If you don't agree, do your own calculations or check it out on the internet, if you think you can trust the internet.

PS--I forgot to mention that the person mentioned above was worked up about "corporations" getting a big tax gift.  For some reason liberals don't seem to understand that "corporations" are owned by red blooded people who have the right to vote.  Corporations don't have the right to vote.  When a corporation gets a tax break, that money ends up in a human's account who pay taxes. The other thing is that a lot more people own stock in these corporations than you might think.
