Chain immigration has been going on since the first Europeans arrived in the New World. It is time to change, but some are still cling too the past. That is the point of this blog.
Here is how it works. You hear all kinds of Democrats on TV claiming that their own relatives immigrated to the USA many years ago, so they feel that they have no right to deny others the same right to immigrate here just like their relatives did. This is a stupid idea without any logic and here is why.
First off, times change! When those original relatives immigrated here, they made a living by catching Cod fish off the East coast. The Cod fish were free for the taking, but over the years and over fishing made it necessary to "limit" the number of Cod fish that could be taken. We don't need any more Cod fisherman. Does this sound like what we are now doing about unlimited and illegal immigration?
These same early immigrants became loggers harvesting the 500 year old pine trees that grew almost every where here. Over time, these immigrants harvested more and more of these 500 year old trees that we had to "limit" the number and locations where these trees could be harvested. We don't need any more loggers . Does that sound like what we are now doing about unlimited and illegal immigration?
Back in the 1800's our government had large amounts of public land that was going unused so they allowed many immigrants to come to the USA and claim large homesteads for "free" if they would only clear and farm that land. Over time, our government ran out of free public land and thus "ended" the homestead program. We don't need any more farmers. Does that sound like what we are now doing about unlimited and illegal immigration?
In the early 1900's our government allowed many immigrants to come here who were poor and who had little hope of improving their quality of life in their own country, because we still had room for some more here. Over time, so many came and ended up in our larger cities that our cities became over population to the point that it "lowered" the quality of life for the USA citizens who were already here. Slums started here that looked like the same slums that these immigrants have come from and had tried to escape. Now, we see that the problem has gotten so much worse that we now need to "limit" those types of immigrants. Does this sound like what we are now doing about unlimited and illegal immigration.
At this point we have gotten to where we really don't need any more immigrants at all or the median quality of life for the citizens of the USA will go down. The only group left that is logical to allow to immigrate into the USA are those who have "special" skills that will help to "raise" the median quality of life for the citizens for the USA. How is this so hard for "do gooders" to understand? You know that my position is that I have a responsibility to "protect" the quality of life for my grandchildren that my fore fathers created for me and that means "limiting" immigration from what it used to be!
PS--Remember my blog on "tendency to the mean"? It happens that even if we let in only those with needed or high skills. their children will "tend" back to the mean of where those skilled people came from. It is a no win in the long run strategy. The only win in the long run strategy is to not let in any more just like places like Switzerland have been doing!
